Perfect hostel for Detroit! If you are considering traveling to Detroit (and I strongly encourage you to) you already are a bit more adventurous and open minded. Hostel Detroit and their staff are the perfect match to help you experience the up and coming city that is Detroit. I will start by saying this: it’s an old building in what looks like a bad area of Detroit and doesn’t seem to be good location. But that’s just your preconceived ideas messing with you. You’ll find out pretty quick that the location is great, and it immediately immerses you in Detroit.
As other reviewers have stated, the staff is what makes Hostel Detroit the place to stay. Eric, Alex, Taylor, and Gena were awesome. Eric probably has one of the best beards going. They not only helped with information and activities in the city but would come and join. Eric helped pick some great spots and buildings for pictures (so many great places), Taylor came with us to the Eastern Market, and we grabbed drinks at the local Nancy Whiskey Pub.
Can’t say enough good things about the hostel and the city. BTW its way safer than you expect and we (friend and I) walked everywhere in the city and were fine.
