Hostel Detroit seeks to create experiential connections between Detroiters and visitors to foster creativity and global understanding of an often misunderstood city. Hostel Detroit has a vast network of volunteer Ambassadors that live to share the city of Detroit with visitors. They hold weekly tours and offer individualized extended discussion, exploration, education of past present and future of Detroit. We offer these tours and connections at no charge to our guests. These tours and conduits for discussion give an “on the ground” perspective of the reality of Detroit.

If you are coming to Detroit to explore a specific topic or idea please contact us and we will work to connect you with our volunteer Ambassadors that are working in your area of interest.
If what you’re looking for is not on this list, please inquire with our staff about the specific educational opportunity you’re looking for — we’ll find an ambassador for you to connect with.
Hostel Detroit holds weekly volunteer Ambassador tours every Saturday at 10:00 A.M.. The tours are curated by our volunteer Ambassadors to offer guests unique on the ground experiences in the city. No two tours are the same; they are curated based on guest interests that are discussed at the beginning of the tour. These are only open to hostel guests and are offered free of charge as part of our educational mission. Our volunteers do this because they love the city of Detroit and want to share it with the world.
